Is your home or daycare center safe?

Is your home safe? Check out the My Safe Home website to make sure. It is an interactive website which helps families identify dangers in their home and provides simple steps to fix them. Using a 360-degree interactive technology, parents can explore all areas of a home or explore specific risks, like carbon monoxide poisoning. The safety information is available in both English and Spanish.

Send the letter today....Feb 21st

Take Action by Tuesday, February 21     Keep Kids Walking and Biking!

The U.S. House and Senate will be voting Tuesday on Transportation Bills which would significantly harm the long-term health of children and adults. The Bills would eliminate funding for:

  • Trails
  • Bicycling
  • Walking
  • Safe Routes to Schools programs
  • Other supports that ensure people can move in their communities and not just sit in cars

Childhood obesity continues to rise and even kids who are not obese suffer damage to their health when they are not physically active.

KC Healthy Kids supports sidewalks, bicycle paths, trails and safe route programs because one of the best ways to really reduce childhood obesity and inactivity in kids is to ensure the environment around us promotes physical activity.

A bi-partisan amendment is being considered in the Senate (Cardin-Cochran) which would allow local governments access to funds for these items.

Here is a simple way you can make a difference. Just click HERE to sign this letter which will be sent directly to your Senators and Representatives. By signing this letter you will be opposing the Bills being supported by the Majority in the House and Senate and supporting the alternative Bill in the Senate.

Thank you
